Francis Alÿs
b. 1959 · Belgian-Mexican
Francis Alÿs creates performances, films, drawings and paintings from walking, rumor, labor and urban observation. Based in Mexico City since the 1980s, he has developed works in which modest actions—pushing ice, moving sand, tracing borders—become reflections on politics and collective effort.
