Harvey Quaytman (1937–2002) was a master of shaped canvas painting and geometric abstraction. Utilizing curved wood stretchers resembling rocking chairs and later cruciform grids dusted with iron filings, Quaytman brought architectural rigor to late 20th-century American painting.
