Hassan Sharif became a foundational figure in contemporary art in the United Arab Emirates through conceptual experiments, performances, drawings and accumulations made from mass-produced materials. After studying in London in the 1980s, he returned to the UAE and helped build the region’s experimental art infrastructure through teaching, writing and artist-led activity.
