Artist
Kwon Young-Woo
1926–2013 · South Korean
Kwon Young-Woo made paper itself the subject of his work. From the 1960s onward he abandoned conventional ink painting and began tearing, piercing, layering and pressing hanji, often working nearly monochromatically before introducing restrained washes of color.
