Martha Jungwirth is a major Austrian abstract painter and recipient of the Grand Austrian State Prize. Rejecting formal geometric dogmas, Jungwirth paints raw, emotional gestures in oil and watercolor across salvaged wrapping paper, ledger cardboard, and brown board, capturing bodily impulses, landscapes, and political events with ferocious spontaneity.
