Artist
Mira Schendel
1919–1988 · Swiss-born Brazilian
Mira Schendel developed a quiet but radical practice around language, transparency, paper and the unstable relation between mark and space. Born in Europe and settling in Brazil in 1949, she produced thousands of delicate monotypes on rice paper and later suspended transparent acrylic works that made writing spatial.
