Miriam Schapiro

Miriam Schapiro was a pioneering feminist artist who combined painting, collage, fabric and decorative traditions while helping establish the Feminist Art Program at CalArts and co-creating Womanhouse. She coined the term 'femmage' for works that brought women’s domestic and craft traditions into contemporary art.
