Artist
Mona Hatoum
b. 1952 · Palestinian-British, born Lebanon
Mona Hatoum began with politically direct performance and video in the 1980s before developing installations and sculptures in which domestic objects, maps and bodily references become unstable or threatening. Exile and displacement form an important context, but her work rarely resolves into a single autobiographical reading.
