Tschabalala Self builds monumental depictions of Black metropolitan bodies using sewn fabric scraps, printed textiles, and oil pigment. Constructing exaggerated silhouettes that assert agency and joy, her works celebrate urban Black culture while confronting racial and sexual stereotyping.
