Willem de Rooij investigates the mechanics of image production, colonialism, and ethnographic display. Initially collaborating with Jeroen de Rijke (1970–2006) on acclaimed 16mm and 35mm film studies, de Rooij subsequently developed complex installations, hand-woven monochrome tapestries, and his celebrated 'Bouquet' series—elaborate floral arrangements acting as three-dimensional sociopolitical allegories.
