Art Basel Qatar arrived in 2026 as a deliberate departure from the standard mega-fair formula. Its first edition used open-format artist presentations rather than a conventional booth grid, giving galleries and artists more room to build coherent statements. The Doha context matters: the fair is most interesting when read alongside the region’s museums, collections, and expanding cultural infrastructure.
