Tom Sachs works from a New York studio, formerly named Allied Cultural Prosthetics, whose visible construction — plywood, hardware, exposed seams, its own written protocols — is part of the work rather than a stage in making it. The store releases objects, tools and printed matter produced by that studio, sold directly rather than through gallery representation.
