Why You Like Japanese Minimalism

Japanese minimalism is not the same as Western minimalism, though they rhyme.

The difference is ma — the interval, the pause, the space between. A tea bowl by Ryoji Koie or a folded steel piece by Nendo is not stripped down. It is composed around what is missing.
