Alina Szapocznikow

Alina Szapocznikow created sculptures from casts of lips, breasts, bellies and other body fragments, often using resin and polyurethane. A survivor of ghettos and concentration camps, she developed a deeply physical practice around memory, desire, illness and bodily impermanence.
