Dia al-Azzawi

Dia al-Azzawi developed a major modernist practice from Iraqi history, Arabic poetry, Mesopotamian references and contemporary political events. After leaving Iraq for London in 1976, he expanded painting into large drawings, sculptures and artist books, often responding to war, exile and cultural memory.
