Emil Nolde

Emil Nolde developed a saturated, often violent color language in paintings of flowers, landscapes, religious scenes and nightlife. Though briefly associated with Die Brücke, he remained independent. His biography also requires critical treatment of his antisemitism and support for National Socialism, despite his work later being condemned as 'degenerate.'
