Sir Grayson Perry is one of Britain's most celebrated contemporary artists and cultural commentators, awarded the Turner Prize in 2003. Perry creates ornately decorated classical ceramic urns, monumental woven tapestries, and cast bronzes that disguise provocative social critiques beneath decorative splendor. Addressing British class hierarchies, consumerism, religion, and gender identity—frequently appearing as his alter-ego Claire—Perry couples traditional craftsmanship with trenchant contemporary satire.
