Julia Scher is a visionary artist who has scrutinized security systems, closed-circuit television (CCTV), and digital surveillance apparatuses since the late 1980s. Through immersive installations featuring security monitors, uniformed guards, synthetic pink cabling, robotic eyes, and seductive automated voice announcements, Scher anticipates the panoptic erosion of personal privacy and bodily autonomy in an increasingly automated security state.
