Ken Mihara creates quiet, architectural stoneware vessels that evoke ancient geological landscapes and Shinto spiritual austerity. Subjecting his hand-built vessels to multiple high-temperature wood firings without glazes, he allows the ash and flame to coax subtle mineral hues of grey, orange, and blue from the Izumo clay.
