Len Lye
1901–1980 · New Zealand-born American
Len Lye was an extraordinary innovator in direct filmmaking and kinetic sculpture. He drew, painted and scratched directly onto film stock to create rhythmic moving images, then developed large motorized sculptures in steel that transform motion, vibration and sound into physical form.
