Paola Pivi creates whimsical, surreal sculptures and installations that upend conventional reality. Awarded the Golden Lion at the 48th Venice Biennale in 1999 for her upside-down Fiat G-91 airplane, Pivi is world-famous for her life-sized feathered polar bears in vibrant fluorescent colors ('I and I did it again') and staging live animals in unexpected museum contexts.
