Parviz Tanavoli

b. 1937 · Iranian

Parviz Tanavoli is a central figure of Iranian modern sculpture and the Saqqakhaneh movement. His recurring Heech sculptures transform the Persian word for 'nothing' into a volumetric body, while locks, cages, calligraphy and references to traditional metalwork connect modern form with vernacular and devotional objects.
