Roy Lichtenstein became a central figure of Pop Art by translating comic panels, advertisements and reproductive printing into monumental paintings built from flat primary color, black contour and enlarged Benday dots. His later work turned the same visual language toward art history, brushstrokes, mirrors, interiors and landscapes.
