A. Ramachandran began with expressionistic paintings of urban violence and marginal figures before turning toward large, richly colored images informed by Rajasthan, Kerala mural traditions and the lotus ponds of Rajasthan. He has also worked extensively in sculpture, public murals and children’s book illustration.
