Akbar Padamsee moved between portraiture, nude figure, landscape and increasingly abstract fields of color across a long career. His Metascapes, begun in the 1970s, reduced land, sky, sun and horizon to elemental chromatic zones, while his Heads retained a sustained interest in psychological presence.
