Abraham Palatnik pioneered kinetic and light-based art in Brazil. His Aparelhos Cinecromáticos, begun around 1949, used motors, bulbs and colored screens to project slowly changing fields of light, while later reliefs and paintings explored rhythm through repeated strips and moving visual sequences.
