Artur Barrio
b. 1945 · Portuguese-born Brazilian
Artur Barrio became known in Brazil around 1970 for temporary interventions using meat, blood, paper, rubbish and other unstable materials. His Trouxas Ensanguentadas, or bloody bundles, were placed in public space during military dictatorship and evoked bodies, waste and state violence without resolving into a single narrative.
