Chung Chang-Sup (1927–2011) was a prominent Dansaekhwa master who explored the spiritual and organic qualities of 'tak' (raw mulberry bark fiber). In his celebrated 'Meditation' and 'Return' series, Chung macerated tak bark in water, kneaded the wet pulp by hand onto canvas, and allowed it to dry naturally into sculpted tactile relief surfaces.
