Emily Kame Kngwarreye began painting on canvas in her late seventies after decades of ceremonial, body-painting and batik practices within the Utopia community. In less than a decade she produced an extraordinary body of work rooted in her Country, Alhalkere, and in the plant, animal and ceremonial knowledge embedded there.
