Artist
Fahrelnissa Zeid
1901–1991 · Turkish-Jordanian
Fahrelnissa Zeid developed a monumental abstract language from kaleidoscopic color, Islamic pattern, stained-glass-like structures and European modernism. Moving among Istanbul, London, Paris and Amman, she built large paintings that often overwhelm the viewer through density and scale.
