Giorgio Morandi spent most of his life in Bologna, repeatedly painting modest arrangements of bottles, boxes and vessels alongside landscapes of Grizzana. Brief contact with Metaphysical painting gave way to a quieter practice built from subtle changes in placement, tone and atmosphere.
