Artist
Filippo de Pisis
1896–1956 · Italian
Filippo de Pisis developed a highly personal modernist language from still life, city views, flowers and portraits. After early contact with the Ferrarese circle around de Chirico and Carrà, he moved toward loose, calligraphic brushwork that gave ordinary subjects an atmosphere of fragility and speed.
