Kim Guiline was a pioneering master of Korean abstract modernism who lived in Paris from 1961. Bridging the Korean Dansaekhwa monochrome philosophy with European conceptualism, Kim meticulously sprayed oil and watercolor layers onto paper and canvas to explore the materiality of light, temporal duration, and the subtle surface boundaries between black and white.
