Matthew Barney is a monumental American multimedia artist celebrated for his epic five-part film cycle The Cremaster Cycle and the Drawing Restraint series. Combining athletic physical resistance, biological mythology, Celtic folklore, and sculptures fabricated from industrial petroleum jelly, Teflon, and cast bronze, Barney fundamentally redefined late 20th-century sculptural installation.
