Carlo Carrà
1881–1966 · Italian
Carlo Carrà moved from an early career as a decorative painter into the Milanese Futurist circle, signing the movement’s 1910 painters’ manifesto. During World War I he shifted sharply toward Metaphysical painting after meeting Giorgio de Chirico, and later pursued a more restrained, archaic form of figuration and landscape.
