Artist
Hanne Darboven
1941–2009 · German
Hanne Darboven developed vast numerical and calendrical systems that translated time into handwritten notation, arithmetic, grids, photographs and archival material. After a formative period in New York in the late 1960s, she returned to Hamburg and built increasingly expansive installations in which private chronology, world history and repetitive labor overlap.
