Helen Khal was an influential Lebanese-American painter, critic, and co-founder of Gallery One (Beirut's first commercial art gallery in 1963). Celebrated for radiant, intimate Color Field abstractions and serene still lifes bathed in Mediterranean light, her luminous color modulations and landmark book The Woman Artist in Lebanon were foundational to Arab modernism.
