Monir Shahroudy Farmanfarmaian developed geometric mirror works that brought Persian architectural traditions into dialogue with modern abstraction. After study and work in New York, she returned to Iran, later lived in exile after the 1979 revolution, and eventually reestablished a studio in Tehran.
