Shigekazu Nagae is an innovator of porcelain sculpture who exploits the natural sagging and curvature of clay during high-temperature firings. Suspending thin sheets of slip-cast porcelain on delicate ceramic armatures, he allows gravity and heat to sculpt curved, parchment-like sculptures of astonishing lightness.
