Yun Hyong-keun
1928–2007 · South Korean
Yun Hyong-keun developed austere paintings in which broad vertical bands of umber and ultramarine soak into raw canvas or linen. His mature language, emerging in the 1970s after periods of political imprisonment and personal upheaval, was described through the elemental relation of earth and heaven.
