Across Painting; drawing; collage, Steven Shearer has developed a practice centered on youth culture, heavy metal, historical portraiture and found images transformed into psychologically charged figures. The work is best understood in relation to Contemporary figurative painting, where material choices and visual structure carry as much weight as subject matter.
